While known primarily as the singer/songwriter of Melbourne-based group Snowy Band, this May sees Liam “Snowy” Halliwell embarking solo across the country to celebrate the release of a brand new album - ‘lipreader’.
The new release sees the songwriter embrace the more extreme edges of his musical style - stark introspection pulled inside-out by immediate production.
This will be reflected in the tour’s intimate live shows, free-form sets of improvisation and songs from the wide-ranging Snowy songbook, played both solo and with guest collaborations with local artists.
A collaboration between visual artist and musician Kayleigh Heydon, who hails from Manchester, and Curtis Wakeling (The Ocean Party / Pop Filter / Velcro), Deuce craft dreamy, evocative indie pop inspired by the likes of Mazzy Star, Galaxy 500, The Triffids, Felt and Beach House. Their albums have seen praise from the likes of triple j, NME, Paper Magazine and The Music, and plays across 4ZZZ, PBS, Triple R and FBi Radio and also caught the ear of Apple Music and Spotify’s editorial teams, featuring on Apple Music’s ‘Indie + Chill’ and Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds: Indie’ playlists.
Deuce matches sincere expressions of nostalgia, forgiveness, love and change with textural instrumental arrangements and dreamy vocal interplay. Without the limitations of an audience or genre in mind when recording their debut album, Deuce see-saws between beautifully slow and atmospheric ballads of love and longing, and upbeat jangle pop.
