Merpire is the moniker of Melbourne-based artist Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt. The last two years have been massive for this peach-haired musical powerhouse.
Off the back of her debut EP release in 2018 Merpire signed to indie management company Fright Night Music, showcased at Bigsound and sold out her Endless Chatter EP tour. By the end of 2019, Merpire had accrued an impressive list of supports including Paul Dempsey, Angie McMahon, Julia Jacklin, Didirri, Olympia and Gengahr (UK).
Having played a slew of impressive Australian festivals over the past 18 months (A festival called PANAMA, Brunswick Music Fest and featuring with Rat!hammock at Laneway) Merpire is on an explosive upwards trajectory.
The last few months has seen Merpire focusing her time and detailed attention on new music, in the studio of producer and band mate James Seymour while spending her spare time bouncing all around the country on support tours and co-writing with up and coming Aussie artists such as Rat!hammock and Chitra.
To top off an already impressive year, Merpire has a collection of new music for her eagerly awaiting and ever-growing fans, drip-feeding into 2020.
