Swedes:
Described by Kim Salmon as "Rocknroll oozing in it's rawest, most primal form..." and Patrick Emery: "like that classic brand of footy the punters love and the league is hellbent on eradicating, The Swedes play it hard, rough but straight at the ball," The Swedish Magazines were formed in 2003 by Tasmanian brothers Van and Cal Walker. Their initial release Sickness Gone garnered immediate critical acclaim and their first EP What Doesn't Kill Me Makes Me Deadly lead to support shows with Australia's best rocknroll acts, including The Saints, Drones, Meanies and Cosmic Psychos. The first full length album Eat More Baby was met with more critical acclaim and after other projects and a line up change, they released Wino Havoc in 2011. A ferocious live act with a formidable reputation, Rubber Records are issuing a Best Of later this year and the original band have reformed and are rehearsing new material for third full length album. The Bridge Hotel will be among their first shows in at least two years.
Troubled Waters:
Jess Parker & The Troubled Waters have been cooking up their unique brew of tremolo-soaked blues rock and possessing audiences across Victoria for the past 3 years. After both independent releases, 'Goin' Swimmin' (2018) and 'Live at The Old Bar' (2019) receiving critical acclaim, the dynamic duo have continued to hypnotise the general public with their bone-rattling musical assault, and play sold out shows supporting the likes of Cash Savage, Cable Ties, and Bitch Diesel. Jess's howling, fuzzed-out guitar pairs seamlessly with Sean Figgers' animalistic drums, making for a true spectacle. Not to be missed.
