John Flanagan Trio + Cat Canteri album launch

Australian folk band ‘John Flanagan Trio’ are set to release ‘Honest Man’, Flanagan’s 3rd album and his first time recording with his regular Trio band mates. Fast becoming a favourite on the Australian Folk Festival circuit the group manages to transcend the sum of its impressive parts. Award winning songwriter, John Flanagan has been compared to James Taylor and Paul Kelly for his warm vocal delivery and engaging storytelling “one of Australia’s finest lyricists” -Timber and Steel; Liz Frencham has a remarkable stage presence and a creativity in her double bass playing which has seen her play alongside artists of international renown; Dan Watkins is recognised as one of the finest young bluegrass pickers in the country on guitar and mandolin and has toured extensively around Australia and the US. Together they combine 70s folk singer-songwriter influences with a range of contemporary Americana styles, from bluegrass and country to blues and jazz. With soaring 3-part harmonies and tight arrangements they deliver a dynamic and energetic live show that can vary from humorous and uplifting to moving and thoughtful. 

 

Cat Canteri is a Melbourne based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s known in the Australian folk and Americana scene for her effortless velvet vocal performances, deeply personal songs, and energetic live performances. Her music document real life situations and experiences were framed, coloured and shaped by exquisite playing.

Her 2016 release Late At Night ventured into new territory with reckless electric slide guitar, and a bold vocal delivery that captures both the vitality and intimacy of her live shows.

Her forthcoming album 'Pentridge Wasteland' is centred on the grind and grime of life of inner city Melbourne. It will be released in May 2018 through MGM distribution.
